The philosophy of folds

Caroline CHARIOT-DAYEZ started painting from early on and it became as essential to her as her daily food. Her major concern has been to understand "painting", and she studied at the faculty of philosophy in Brussels. She was captured by the works of the French phenomenologist Maurice Merleau-Ponty who would leave a deep imprint on her pictorial work. Her life has been an ongoing interaction between philosophy — which she teaches — and painting. They are like two sides of the same approach, the obverse and reverse. She lives and works in Brussels.

A catalogue of her work has been edited by EDITIONS ART IN BELGIUM
